It’s Sunday and we are pretty much homebound for the day. Kansas City was hit with a few inches of snow and bitter cold temps. This is definitely the worst start to a winter we have had since I moved here 8 years ago! It has been a great excuse to hunker down, clean, do laundry and get organized before my family arrives next week.
We had a great weekend! Friday night we hosted our Health House team for a Christmas happy hour. We kept it very simple with light appetizers, and then we catered in Jack Stack. I forgot to take pics; too busy chatting and playing hostess. I did get one pre party. I wore this J.Crew buffalo check top, which is perfect for the holidays
We took the kids to the Nutcracker on Saturday night. I have been going to the Nutcracker since I was 4, and have seen it in many cities across the US.… Continue Reading
Well, we survived the weekend…barely. V came down with a stomach bug Thursday night; probably the worst I have seen in either of my kids. She was up every 30 minutes getting sick. I felt SO bad for her. Friday was brutal, Saturday she wasn’t throwing up or diarrhea anymore but just very tired. It wasn’t until today that she finally was back to her normal self. Now our son is not feeling well…I have a feeling we have a long night ahead of us!
We missed out on a good friends 40th Friday, which was a complete bummer. But, were able to sneak away for a few hours on Saturday to see go to Lawrence and see a KU basketball game. It was a much needed break after a few long days. Lawrence is darling, and the KU game was incredible! Thanks to our friends for bringing us to the game!… Continue Reading
After a horrendous October, I was ready for some good things to happen. As luck should have it, this month we got a house, a new puppy and I have taken on the role as Editor of Simply KC Magazine. I guess the saying “good things come in 3’s” does ring true!
We brought home Alfie two weeks ago, and we are just couldn’t imagine life without him. We have been without a pet for 3 years, so we were very excited to get this pup. He is the SWEETEST little thing. He is a french bulldog, that we got from a breeder in Paola, KS called Budacious Bulldogs. They are wonderful, if you are looking for a Frenchie. We have multiple friends that have gotten their dog from there. When they sent pics of his litter, we knew we wanted the one with the patch over one eye 🙂 It was love at first sight.… Continue Reading
We had the best weekend traveling to Dickinson, North Dakota to help my Granny celebrate her 90th birthday! It took us two planes and an hour car ride to get there; but it was worth it. It’s so nice to get out of the city for a few days and enjoy the peace and quiet!
As a kid we would drive almost 10 hours to get to North Dakota every summer. This cow was always a sign that we were close. We had to give Vivi a chance to see “Sue” up close and personal 🙂 She wasn’t too impressed! ha!
We came from all over to celebrate! My 3 girl cousins from Atlanta also made the trip. I love these girls so much, and don’t get to see them enough. I was 7 when Meg was born, and 15 when Jamie was born! I am a bit older, but they are like sisters to me.… Continue Reading
Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes and messages from friends near and far this week. And for lunches and dinners with friends and family. It was a very low-key way to ring in 39, but it was much needed after a crazy month we have had.
This week I got to work with a few of my favorites on the Park Place holiday lookbook shoot. I booked Amy as a model for a shoot last year and we have been friends ever since! I love when we get a chance to work together, we always have a great time! Jenny Wheat photographed the shoot, and she’s also a riot. You can imagine the amount of laughter and jokes that were had 🙂 We shot on location at the Bauer Event space which was very cool!
Friday night my husband stayed home with the kids so I could have a girls night.… Continue Reading
