I hope everyone had a great weekend! We didn’t do a whole lot, but it was nice!
I was at a friend’s house this week, and she had these napkins! so funny…and so true! Speaking of wine, we bought this bottle of Sancerre for our dinner Friday night and it was delicious! If you are ever in need of a good bottle (but don’t want to spend a fortune) go to Underdog Wine Co. in the Crestwood Shops. They have a wonderful selection of unique wines you won’t find at your grocery store or Costco. I am partial to French Whites; and this Sancerre was a perfect match to our salmon diner (Blue Apron again!)
Since the kids were off school on Friday, I dragged them with me shopping for Valentine’s. Paper Source is always the best place to find a kitschy card. After that we went to see Kung Fu Panda 3; super cute if you haven’t seen it yet.… Continue Reading
If you have been a follower of this blog for a while you have seen my best girls/sorority sisters in photos. These girls are like family; we went to college at Indiana University, lived in Chicago together, saw one another through good/bad career moves, bad boyfriends and breakups, marriages, babies, health issues, moves, promotions, milestones, you name it! I can’t imagine my life without them…
What started out as the group of us texting 100 times a day about random things like kids sleep issues, botox, how to not go insane when our kids are driving us crazy, or recipes to get our kids to eat vegetables, turned into an idea.
With all of our diverse personalities, backgrounds, and issues wouldn’t it be fun/funny/maybe even terrifying to share these things on a blog? Surely there are other mom’s going through the same stuff. Maybe all of you out there can relate?… Continue Reading
Happy Monday everyone! Kids are not in school today, so the “weekend” is definitely dragging on. The walls of the apartment are closing in after spending two days pretty much at home. I feel like everyone is going a little stir crazy!
We had a great weekend. We were both exhausted from a crazy work week, so on Friday we stayed in and cooked Salmon with Brussel Sprouts and Saffron Rice. Salmon is SO easy, we just do olive oil with salt and pepper and bake it at 350 for 20-30 minutes. If you buy good Salmon (we get ours at McGonigles Market) you don’t necessarily need a lot of seasoning. We try to do this at least once a week for dinner.
Saturday the Chiefs played, so we went to friends to watch the game (which was disappointing to say the least) and after that we took the kids home to the babysitter and went out to eat.… Continue Reading
I kind of fell off the map this past week. Christmas break was fun in the beginning, but exhausting at the end. It’s not easy trying to entertain two sick kids who are house bound for almost 2 weeks. By yesterday I had checked out…not a proud parent moment but I was just kind of done. I wanted to go and hide in my closet and not answer to anyone all day. We ended break with some movie watching, painting, popcorn making and video game playing. Why not just soak up one last day of vacation?
But, in all fairness to the kids, they were probably the best behaved they have been in a long time…maybe it was because they weren’t feeling good and they were too tired to harass one another?! But they actually played so nice together. New toys helped, having Jon around to play also was a huge help!… Continue Reading
Well, it’s the first post of the new year! As I write this, it is NYE, both my kids AND my husband are asleep. A bad cold has hit our household and at least one person has been sick since Christmas. Needless to say it’s been a long week, but we have gotten through it. We had a great dinner at Capital Grille, I enjoyed multiple *and much needed * glasses of champagne and we got the kids to bed early. Praying for everyone to get healthy so that we can enjoy the last few days of winter break.
snapshots from our dinner out…not feeling too hot, but we did it. And we did a family toast to the New Year!
The New Year is always a fresh start. I don’t like to make resolutions, but rather goals for the upcoming year. It was fun to sit at dinner tonight with the kids and talk about what our goals might be for 2016.… Continue Reading
