Scout Beauty: Fall Polish with Hoopla

Posted on September 23rd, by Melanie

It’s no secret I love Nail Polish (if you could see my collection at home you would die) I especially love the colors from Hoopla studio; this Kansas City based company makes their own custom colors that you can buy or use when you get a service their 2 studio locations in KC. They are free of all the nasty stuff, which also makes you feel better about using their colors.

I met up with Amy for a mani/pedi session at Hoopla in Fairway to get a first hand look at their new fall color collection, and I am obsessed!

I did “mamacita” on my toes, which is this gorgeous plum shade with a hint of grey. It’s a nice, darker neutral shade for fall

Amy did Mojo on her nails. This color is gorgeous! It’s a gold with shimmer; amazing and perfect going into holiday…

Scout Beauty: Eyelash Extensions

Posted on July 6th, by Melanie

I was not blessed with long, full eyelashes. So, I have been wanting to try eyelash extensions after seeing them on my girlfriends who live in Chicago.  I was excited to learn that Hoopla Studio ( my favorite place for nails) also does aesthetics; lash extensions being one of their services.

I decided to go with a partial set for the first time to see if I would like it. It took just an hour and it was easy and pain free. The hardest part was sitting still for an hour, with my eyes closed! I worked with Kim at their Leawood location, and she was fantastic.

Here is a before pic:

and the after!

I am going on week 2 with the lashes, and I absolutely love them. I think they are really natural looking, which is what I was going for. Without friends/relatives knowing, I have gotten compliments and questions on what mascara I am using!… Continue Reading

Scout Beauty: Hydrafacial giveaway!

Posted on May 19th, by Melanie

I splurge on products and cosmetics, but the one thing I don’t do enough of is facials. I forgot how wonderful they make your skin look and feel. It is a refresh your skin needs multiple times a year to keep it hydrated and looking youthful.

I recently had a facial and a few other treatments done at Radiance: Beautiful Skin (located at College/Roe) in Leawood. Tara; the owner and aesthetician was referred to by a friend and I was anxious to meet her and check it out! The entire experience was wonderful. The room was relaxing and warm, and she talked me through each treatment we were doing as well as the benefits.

If you aren’t familiar, a hydrafacial is a resurfacing procedure that provides cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and hydration, including Vortex-Fusion® of antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. It’s not painful, and it just feels like a rough brush sort of moving over your skin.… Continue Reading

Our Weekend

Posted on April 4th, by Melanie

We had a laid back weekend, which was really nice. Coming off of a week of travel, it was nice to have some time at home to catch up on work, laundry, cleaning, etc.

Saturday I went down to Blue Mercury on the plaza for their Spring Nars event. Sally, who is a freelance artist with Nars did my look. I mainly wanted a good daytime eye that I could also mix with deeper colors for an evening look. I also was looking for a great spring lip. Nars; which has always been a favorite of mine never disappoints!

If you follow me on Snapchat you have already seen the pics…this was how I documented what the artist did. This is the before…eek! no makeup is scary!

here is an everyday look…super light eye with just a black liquid liner and mascara. I felt like this was just too pale for me, so I had her add a different color on the lid.… Continue Reading

Scout Beauty: 4 products to get you through winter

Posted on December 18th, by Melanie

The winter months will do a number on your skin! From the dryness outside, to the dry heat in your house…it makes everything seem so blah. Not to mention the lack of any vitamin D from the sun, and losing that summer glow. Here are a few of my favorite products to keep your skin hydrated, and to give a nice “faux glow” without having to use a tanning bed (does anyone really do that anymore?) or spend a fortune on spray tans.

Beautycounter’s all natural Countertime Cleansing balm is a product that does double duty. You can use it as a cleanser; applied to a dry face and wipe off or you can wear it as a mask at night. It is super hydrating and leaves skin buttery soft.

I have blogged about this product before, and I felt like I needed to share it again. This Triple Oxygen mask from Bliss is a self-activating mask formulated with multi-action CPR technology, vitamins C & E, and grape seed extract to instantly revitalize, energize and supercharge skin’s natural defenses.… Continue Reading
