Life Lately: Our California Vacation

Posted on August 3rd, by Melanie

I can’t believe it is August already! This summer has gone by so fast. Sorry for the lack of blogging and content; it’s hard to keep up during the summer. The last few weeks have been busy with travel. We are prepping for another trip this weekend for a wedding up North.

Our week in California was amazing. We packed a lot into 7 days; and it was fun overload for the kids. We always love visiting our best friends who live there; the kids get along great which makes it so easy for everyone to be together.

Our friends recently moved to Palos Verdes which is about 45 minutes from LAX. It’s a beautiful, quiet town that sits up on the cliffs overlooking the water. I love that they get both the beach and cliff landscapes.

We hiked one day down the cliffs to an untouched area called “seaglass beach”.… Continue Reading

Style Scout Travels: Arizona

Sorry for the hiatus from blogging, but we have been on vacation for the past week. I decided to try to step away from my computer and just enjoy time with my family. I didn’t even check email for 4 days which felt REALLY good. We had the best time; the weather was amazing, the kids had a blast and I got to spend time with my parents.

The weather was perfect, so we spent most of our time at the pool…

V. decided she didn’t want to wear floaties anymore so we spent the week teaching her how to swim. She is fearless and very comfortable in the water. She caught on very quickly and was swimming great by the time we left. She was so worn out, she would nap each day…which she never does at home. Love a sleeping baby čÖé

We took the kids to Butterfly Wonderland which is just outside of Scottsdale.… Continue Reading

Life Lately…

Posted on July 29th, by Melanie

I promise I haven’t abandoned my blog, it’s just been a crazy summer! Juggling the kids, working for my husband, styling, writing, etc. In the midst of it all we were able to get away for a quick family vacation.

We went back to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, where we vacationed last year. We loved it so much, we have decided to make it a family tradition. It is heavenly…

If you want the ultimate vacation for your family, this is the spot! Every restaurant on site is great, the pool is fabulous (two slides!), there is a lake with paddleboat and canoes, horse stables, tennis, golf, spa, shopping, you name it. We had the best time, but we could have used a few more days. We are already planning our return next year!

Style Scout Travels: Miami

Posted on May 6th, by Melanie

What a weekend! I am still recovering…three very late nights and a long day of travel on Sunday did me in! It was well worth it though, we had the best time.

Thursday we arrived early and had a full day to visit with my friend Jillian and her family who live in Miami. She lives right in the heart of the design district, which is a very cool spot and up and coming area in Miami. The new high-end shopping area within the Design District  is pretty amazing.

That┬ánight we went to Wynwood Kitchen; we loved everything from atmosphere to the tapas style food to the drinks. The restaurant is set in the middle of the “Wynwood Walls”, which in itself are entertaining. Each year different artists get to paint the various warehouse walls; they are fantastic and wonderful to admire.… Continue Reading

Travels: Winter in Chicago

Posted on December 15th, by Melanie

Hello Everyone! We are back from a long weekend in Chicago. While it was SO fun; I am realizing that I am definitely not 20…and cannot party like I am in my 20’s! A few nights out past midnight is killer!

I am sure most people want to be at the beach this time of year; but I actually enjoy Chicago in the winter. And, we had surprisingly great weather. Not freezing and no snow made getting around so much easier.

We stayed at the Public Hotel in The Gold Coat. It is a cool space, designed by Ian Schraeger (I love his hotels..he has done the Gramercy Park and Hudson in NYC). The ┬árooms are pretty stark, but clean. The lobby is very cool, and the lounge is a hot spot (even for non hotel guests). We found overall the hotel to be very loud; kind of a party spot.… Continue Reading
