A match made in heaven

My husband and I are big “foodies”.  I wouldn’t say we are food snobs, we just really love good food…whether it is a hole in the wall diner, or a 5 star restaurant. And really, you can’t talk about food without mentioning wine. They really go hand in hand.

We pretty much hit sensory overload on our Napa trip when it comes to all of the tastes that we encountered. I won’t discuss every meal, just highlight a few of our faves and one BIG disappointment.

High on our list was Bistro Jeanty . A classic french restaurant with a cozy bistro feel and an incredible menu that leaves you pondering what to order because there are just so many great things to choose from. It was our last dinner on the trip and at that point we had really indulged ourselves. I made the mistake of ordering a tomato soup that comes served in a puff pastry and Jonathan started with the steak tartare which was enough for 6.… Continue Reading

I left my heart in Yountville…

2 computers died in one week, but I have a computer on loan (from my MIL!) and have uploaded all of our Napa trip pictures. I cannot say enough about our trip, it was definitely in the top 5 for us. We stayed at the Bardessono in Yountville, CA which is just about 10 minutes from downtown Napa. Yountville is TINY, but has all of the great restaurants (French Laundry, Bottega, Bistro Jeanty…) and it just ooooozes with charm. We immediately fell in love. In fact, the first day we had a bunch of winery tours planned, but ended up just walking around the town and going to some local tasting rooms. (Hope and Grace  was a personal fave)

I don’t want to bore you with too much text, so here are some pictures to share…

Going back to my roots…

My parents grew up in the same small town in North Dakota. My Mom grew up on a ranch and the above picture is actually my Mom with her sisters and cousins. How precious are their little boots?! I love them! I am taking my 9 month old with me on this trip to visit family. I am so anxious for him to see the miniature pony that my Aunt has, it’s only 3 feet tall. Perfect for a darling photo op!

Since I will be gone for 10 days, I had to make sure to pack my essentials. Here are some things that I would never leave home without!
I adore Love Quotes scarves. I have about 4 of them and I use them constantly! I have the cotton ones, and they are wonderful for travel because you can either tie them around your neck, or use it as a wrap for when it is freezing (as airplanes usually are)!
