Summer Essentials at Halls

Posted on April 28th, by Melanie

There are a few things you can’t live without during the summer. Here is my shortlist of Summer 2017 must haves all from my favorite, Halls

Cover-Ups are just as important as the swimsuit! This season I am going for the styles that are longer with embroidery and tassels. This easy throw on coverup is super soft and affordable at under $100

A great straw tote is a MUST! There are so many cute ones, it is really hard to pick just one! Loving the tassel trim on this darling style by Mar Y Sol

Sunglasses. Do I really even need to mention this?! I do love all of the trendy styles, but Ray-Ban’s are always classic and in style. Halls has a great selection of them in their bridge department

A white dress is a summer staple. I love them so much I probably have 10 in my closet, for all occasions!… Continue Reading

Are your cocktails killing your fitness?

Posted on April 25th, by Melanie

One of the biggest things that can kill your diet and fitness plan are your alcoholic beverages. You may work your ass off during your workouts, but if you are coming home and having a couple of beers a night you just ruined everything you did at the gym that day! A lot of our favorite drinks are packed with sugar, carbs and empty calories.

Here are my cliff’s notes for fitness friendly drinks…

Wine is not that bad for you…in moderation. If you check the ABV (Alcohol by Volume Percentage) you can gauge the calories you will be getting. lower ABV means lower calories. If the ABV is 9-12, a 6 oz pour will be around 110-140 calories. The lower ABV’s in white are in the dryer wines like pinot grigio. Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay’s are higher in alcohol, which in turn has a higher calorie count.

In general, most white wines are lower in Alcohol and calories than Reds.… Continue Reading

Evereve Dress Sale!

Posted on April 22nd, by Melanie

What I love about the dresses at Evereve is that they are EASY. They are the kind of dresses you can just throw on and feel cute and comfortable. I am not a huge shorts fan, so dresses like these come in handy on super hot summer days! They are having a dress sale that ends tomorrow, so scoop them up while you can!

this stripe number has a cute, cut-out back but is still bra friendly! It is under $60

This dress I wore constantly on my vacation; it comes in two colors and now it is only $29.99!

Here are some of my other favorites…

Sugar Detox

Posted on April 20th, by Melanie

So you may have seen on my insta stories me discussing giving up sugar for lent. By sugar I mean, desserts and sweets; they are by far my biggest weak spot. Going 40 days without any desserts was probably one of the hardest things I have done (when it comes to giving up something).  Maybe even harder than alcohol!

I just keep reading how bad Sugar is. You can read some of the effects HERE. It is so addictive they compare it to cocaine! I mean, how disturbing is this picture?! Funny, not funny…but so true! Sometimes I feel like when I start eating sugary foods I don’t want to stop.

I wanted to give up sugar for 2 things: 1. to test my willpower and 2. to see if there were any changes in my body. Here is what happened.

I was super cranky the first few weeks, it was almost like I was having withdrawals.… Continue Reading

Travel: Arizona

Posted on April 18th, by Melanie

After an extremely gloomy, rainy and cold March; the warm Arizona sun was just what the Dr. ordered! I was in a serious funk. I think I suffer from the winter blues, especially when we have had so many grey days lately! I came back from our vacation rejuvenated and re-energized.

We have been visiting my parents in Arizona for the past 12 years. The kids get SO excited for this trip each year, and frankly I do too! This year really felt like a “vacation” as the kids are so much easier now. I actually got to “lay out” and relax poolside which I don’t think I have done in about 5 years.

My dad is finally retiring for good this year; so I am excited for them to be able to spend more time there. It is gorgeous; the palm trees, cactus and mountains never get old! It seems like everyday is blue skies and sunshine.… Continue Reading
