Blue Bunnies

Posted on March 17th, by Melanie

Easter dresses are my favorite. Not the real poofy frilly ones, but the kind that remind me of my favorite classic children’s books and fairytales.

When I saw this dress at The Little House, something about it reminded me of the little girl who played Cinderella in the 2015 movie.

It’s so feminine and pretty; with a delicate pattern of bunnies and flowers. The ruffle and grosgrain bow make perfect details. It’s not overly poofy, but definitely twirl worthy ūüôā

Kansas City: Hotel Sorella + Spa on Penn

Posted on March 16th, by Melanie

Hotel Sorella; Kansas City’s newest hotel on the Country Club Plaza is now partnering with Spa on Penn to bring spa services to the hotel.

The lobby at Hotel Sorella

Hotel Sorella is great if you live in Kansas City and want to experience a “staycation”. The location is the best (right off the Country Club Plaza) and they even have an outdoor rooftop pool!

You do not have to be a hotel guest to schedule a spa appointment at Hotel Sorella. This is a great place to spend an afternoon with a spa service, lunch, and then go shop on the plaza.

Francesca’s Restaurant at the hotel serves breakfast until 10:30 each ¬†morning¬†

Their Partner, Spa on Penn has been located in Kansas City’s Westport neighborhood for many years. They have dedicated aestheticians that are experts at what they do.

Now at Hotel Sorella you can enjoy those same services!… Continue Reading

The Transitional Jacket

Posted on March 15th, by Melanie

Good, casual jackets are so hard to find! I love them because they are so easy to throw on over a tank with jeans, or even a dress. They are the outfit “completer”, that can take a simple outfit to something a little more interesting.

This lightweight jacket from Scoobie is under $75 and it is a great spring layering piece. It drapes really pretty, and hangs a little lower in the back, and I love the colors in the embroidery. I really think it could be worn into early fall as well, which makes it so versatile!

I am wearing a small for reference. You can email sarah@shopscoobie to order

Fitness: Consistency

Posted on March 14th, by Melanie

There is nothing worse than when it is weeks to swimsuit season, or a vacation and you freak out because you aren’t “swimsuit ready”. ¬†For all of us that means something different. But, I think being comfortable in your skin, and feeling good in a swimsuit is important. Getting where you want to be also doesn’t happen overnight. I think that is one of the worst myths in the fitness world. It takes time, dedication and consistency¬†to achieve goals.

I often hear of women crash dieting or going on crazy workout binges before a vacation, which is one of the worst things you can do to your body. Working out like a crazy woman + not eating anything = a dangerous combo. You will wear yourself out, and chances are you will end up gaining everything back that you lost on that crash diet.

When you workout hard and especially if you are doing a lot of cardio your body needs fuel!… Continue Reading

Dress like a mom

Posted on March 10th, by Melanie

We can all relate to the first time shopping post baby. Almost 9 years later, and I still remember it vividly.

I still looked pregnant, and I believe someone at the store asked me when I was “due”?! My body was a mess, I was exhausted and I just wanted to find something cute to wear, because the thought of putting maternity clothes back on was just depressing. I remember settling for something that was just “ok” because it worked.

Throw a baby into the mix, and that’s a whole other ballgame! I remember the first time trying to figure out my stupid stroller, and hauling it in and out of my car. The amount of diaper changes, and full body sweats as you try to nurse your baby in a fitting room. It’s just not a pleasant experience.

If you follow me on social, you saw that I was at Evereve corporate offices in Minneapolis a few weeks ago.… Continue Reading
