Aging Gracefully (kind of)

Posted on March 22nd, by Melanie

Just in this past year I feel like I am starting to notice the signs of aging. I swear my grey hairs have tripled over the past year! And the fine lines are popping out everywhere. I want to age “gracefully”, with a little help along the way ūüôā

I have been taking some steps this year to try to make my skin look and feel its best! I have talked a lot about facials. I think no matter what age you are, facials are a great rejuvenator for the skin. If you have it in your budget to do it, I highly recommend it.

I have two treatments that have been game changers for me. Today I am talking about¬†Botox. I just started doing this at¬†Bare Med Spa in the last few months, and I have to say I really do love it. I was noticing the deepest lines in between my eyebrows.… Continue Reading

Beauty: Spring Break Prep

Posted on March 3rd, by Melanie

Prepping for a trip is a lot of work! Not only do you have to pack, but sometimes you have to fit in some essential beauty treatments before you leave. I have 3 must-do services before I go away. It seems like a lot, but I always feel so much better when I do it!

I have started to do monthly facials which I feel have helped tremendously with my skin. I go to Nikki at Bare MedSpa  in Park Place. I have very sensitive skin, and have had some bad experiences in the past with products and facials. She is the first aesthetician who really took the time to understand my skin. She has great knowledge of products and what works for different skin types.

To get to understand my skin, she has done a different facial each month, but I recently did the hydra facial before my Los Angeles trip. ¬†… Continue Reading

Scout Beauty: Fall Polish with Hoopla

Posted on September 23rd, by Melanie

It’s no secret I love Nail Polish (if you could see my collection at home you would die) I especially love the colors from Hoopla studio; this Kansas City based company makes their own custom colors that you can buy or use when you get a service their 2 studio locations in KC. They are free of all the nasty stuff, which also makes you feel better about using their colors.

I met up with Amy for a mani/pedi session at Hoopla in Fairway to get a first hand look at their new fall color collection, and I am obsessed!

I did “mamacita” on my toes, which is this gorgeous plum shade with a hint of grey. It’s a nice, darker neutral shade for fall

Scout Beauty: 4 products to get you through winter

Posted on December 18th, by Melanie

The winter months will do a number on your skin! From the dryness outside, to the dry heat in your house…it makes everything seem so blah. Not to mention the lack of any vitamin D from the sun, and losing that summer glow. Here are a few of my favorite products to keep your skin hydrated, and to give a nice “faux glow” without having to use a tanning bed (does anyone really do that anymore?) or spend a fortune on spray tans.

Beautycounter’s all natural Countertime Cleansing balm is a product that does double duty. You can use it as a cleanser; applied to a dry face and wipe off or you can wear it as a mask at night. It is super hydrating and leaves skin buttery soft.

¬†I have blogged about this product before, and I felt like I needed to share it again. This Triple Oxygen mask from Bliss is a self-activating mask formulated with multi-action CPR technology, vitamins C & E, and grape seed extract to instantly revitalize, energize and supercharge skin‚Äôs natural defenses.… Continue Reading
