Shopping Scout: H&M finds under $50

Posted on April 7th, by Melanie

High waisted jeans are my jam lately. I can’t get enough of them! Now when I wear low rise I feel like I am naked. I tried these on at H&M and fell in love. For the high rise trend, you can’t argue with $39.99. Right? I also got this cute striped blouse…only $19.99! I am second guessing myself for not getting the shoes; considering they were only $34. Maybe I need to order them as well.

I found some other great pieces at H&M, like this sweatshirt that I have been wearing non-stop…

This star blouse was too cute not to pick up; it buttons up the back which I love. I wore it yesterday and got a ton of compliments

They also had some great knits online and I am still trying to decide which ones to get! You can shop my current H&M favorites here:

Shopping Scout: Lou & Grey

Posted on August 10th, by Melanie

When we were in California I discovered Lou & Grey. It is a boutique in The Point (In Manhattan Beach). I had looked in the windows before taking my Soul Cycle class and I fell in love. The entire aesthetic of the store, the attention to detail, the soft fabrics, beautiful color palette, and designs were calling my name…

I can’t tell you how much I love this store; it is the perfect mix of boho/classic/sophisticated/chic. They have great basics that don’t look “basic”. They use super soft, easy to care for fabrics. And they do a great job in providing a color palette that allows you to mix and match pieces with ease. It felt like a mix between Club Monaco, J.Crew and Zara. Literally, the perfect combination! Prices range between $20-$150 (most around $40-$50)

The day I happened to be there they were having a huge sale; an additional 40% off sale items, and then $50 off if you spend $150 or more.… Continue Reading

Cheap and Chic: Transitional pieces

Posted on January 7th, by Melanie

I often find that the first Spring collections that hit stores are sometimes the best! Especially with places like Zara and H&M that get picked over quickly. I had said I wasn’t going to “bargain shop” as much in 2016, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t share my great finds with you! While shopping for clients this week I came across some really cute pieces, all under $60 (and most around $35!) They are an absolute steal…

This sesason is all about melange knits, lace, the 70’s vibe returning, suede, the cold shoulder and fringe details…here is a great way to get some of those looks on a budget.… Continue Reading

Cheap and Chic: Solids

Posted on October 12th, by Melanie

My go-to pieces are solid tops. I like them for a couple of reasons. First off, they are more versatile, you can add any print whether it is a scarf, blazer or jacket. Solids also give you the ability to add just about any accessory. You won’t tire of a solid piece as quickly as you do a print. And most solid pieces you can wear forever if they are a classic style.

This season is all about the silhouette. Shorter and boxier, longer lines with side slits, and the sleeveless turtleneck is back. When trendy silhouettes like this come into fashion, you may not want to spend a fortune on them.… Continue Reading
