Kansas City: Hotel Sorella + Spa on Penn

Posted on March 16th, by Melanie

Hotel Sorella; Kansas City’s newest hotel on the Country Club Plaza is now partnering with Spa on Penn to bring spa services to the hotel.

Hotel Sorella is great if you live in Kansas City and want to experience a “staycation”. The location is the best (right off the Country Club Plaza) and they even have an outdoor rooftop pool!

You do not have to be a hotel guest to schedule a spa appointment at Hotel Sorella. This is a great place to spend an afternoon with a spa service, lunch, and then go shop on the plaza.

Francesca’s Restaurant at the hotel serves breakfast until 10:30 each  morning

Their Partner, Spa on Penn has been located in Kansas City’s Westport neighborhood for many years. They have dedicated aestheticians that are experts at what they do.

Now at Hotel Sorella you can enjoy those same services!… Continue Reading

Shopping Scout: The Fall edit @HallsKC

Halls; our gorgeous department store in Kansas City turns 100 this year! They have been bringing cutting edge fashion to KC for the last century, and they are celebrating…

throughout the store they have vignettes celebrating all of the decades of fashion; you will find cool old photos of Hall’s, as well as vintage clothing that is to die for. It was fun to take a trip back in time, and  to see how many styles have come back into fashion!

Amy @stepsofstyle and I spent a fun afternoon scoping out some items for fall, and lunching at their in store cafe.

My favorite section is of course the bags. I am a Prada girl, and I loved seeing the new styles/colors for the season.

I love that their styles are so classic; you will never tire of a Prada bag 🙂 They also have a great selection of Gucci, Loeffler Randall, Rebecca Minkoff and Tory Burch

Amy fell in love with some Tom Ford’s in the sunglass department

We admired the beautiful shoe department.… Continue Reading

Eat + Shop: New to KC

Posted on August 24th, by Melanie

It’s amazing to me how much Kansas City is growing and evolving. I love all the local brands and businesses that have been popping up in the past few years. Two new faves of mine are 1889 Pizza in Mission and The Jeweled Gypsy on The Country Club Plaza.

1889 Neopolitan Pizza just opened a few weeks ago in the strip mall right by Joe’s and Taco Republic. From the decor to the pizza, you will love the entire experience. They have custom pizzas, or you can do a make your own. They have some great apps to choose from and a nice wine and beer selection. The owner told us they are adding desserts soon!

We tried the Tre Truffi which was 3 different dips paired with bread. This was a hit with everyone, including the kids

I tried “the Mahalo”, which is their take on a Hawaiian pizza. They add chicken and jalapenos (which I did not get) But it was very good!… Continue Reading

Scout Style: Windowpane

Posted on September 18th, by Melanie

This week I helped host a holiday trend presentation with Park Place for some of KC’s style setters. It was 90 degrees, and on a rooftop…I didn’t want to be too “fall” or too “spring”. I think this outfit ended up being the perfect choice for a rooftop party in September.

Head to toe print can be intimidating! I wasn’t 100% sure about this outfit at first, but I love the simplicity of black and white, and a windowpane plaid is always classic. I added my big, blue Alexander Wang duffel to break up the print and I kept my jewelry simple with simple studs and some gold bracelets.

Contain Yourself

Posted on July 9th, by Melanie

I will fully admit that I am a tad OCD when it comes to organization and cleanliness. I guess that is why I chose to clean out closets for a living 🙂 I believe everything has its place, and clutter drives me crazy. I wish I wasn’t so particular about organization, but it’s in my genes (thanks Dad!).

I did a jump for joy when I heard the Container Store was coming to KC. I used to shop CS when I lived in Chicago; it truly is an organizers dream. When the CS PR team asked me to come for a blogger preview, I of course accepted! I couldn’t wait to see the wall to wall organization tools in all their glory.

Their is a box, tool, and container for every part of your life! Whether you are doing a home office, playroom or pantry they have you covered.IMG_1062

I could have gone crazy in the kitchen section, I need to go back and just spend an hour in that corner of the store!… Continue Reading
