A brand new Beauty Brands

Posted on June 10th, by Melanie

On Saturday I popped down to the newly renovated Beauty Brands on the Plaza. As someone who has shopped this store for many years, I was very excited to see how they were going to re-invent themselves.

I was blown away by the transformation. They have doubled their space, and have vastly improved the salon and spa portion. The retail side is all white, with clean lines and great displays. The cosmetics are up in front right by the windows. I love that, as you know how important natural light is when you are looking at your makeup!

They have your favorite cosmetic brands, and quite a few skin care lines on hand. I have been testing a few new products which I can’t wait to share with you!

They have an extensive Fragrance department for men and women…so much to choose from!

They also added L’occitane which I love, as well as Nest and Jack Black products for men.… Continue Reading

Local Love: Natasha’s Mulberry & Mott

Posted on December 16th, by Melanie

Kansas City has a lot of hidden gems, and  Natasha’s Mulberry & Mott is one of them.

Natasha’s is one of the most darling little bakeries in the city. Her specialty is cakes and French Macaron’s but she also does other incredible treats like cookies, pastries, handmade marshmallows and ice cream. Her croissants are especially delicious; yet hard to get! You must get there early on Friday and Saturday’s to scoop one up for yourself. You will never be disappointing at Natasha’s…every dessert she makes is out of this world.

My friend Noey and I met for coffee one Sunday in the midst of this holiday hustle…it was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy all that Natasha’s has to offer. Not only are her sweets pretty to look at, but the shop is too with it’s delightful french decor.

Our weekend

Posted on March 11th, by Melanie

We didn’t have internet service all day Sunday and half the day Monday, so this post is a little behind! This past weekend was a blast. Friday during the day I went antique shopping down in the West Bottoms of KC. It was my first time going since we moved to Kansas City! It was a bit overwhelming…so much to look at! We had some great recommendations from friends, which saved us some time. My favorite shops were definitely Restoration Emporium, Bella Patina and Good JuJu.

I only came home with some vintage books to put on my desk. I love the colors though and they were SO inexpensive. I think my favorite thing about antiquing there is that the prices were amazing. Even better than what I have seen at estate sales! My friend Rita got this incredible mink shawl for a fraction of what you would pay at a vintage shop.… Continue Reading

Crossed 2 things off my bucket list…

Posted on September 16th, by Melanie

Can you believe it’s Sunday already? This past week and weekend flew by. We ran, ran, ran for 4 days straight and now I just want to pass out.

I crossed two things off my bucket list this week. First being the Circus! Can you believe I have never been?!  It was so entertaining and it was  like crack for the kids. There was so much to see and all of it is so fascinating. Although I was sweating bullets through most of the show because of all crazy stunts! Does anyone else find it terribly nerve wracking watching that kind of stuff?

He was so excited for the show! The seats were incredible…right up close to the action!

And the next day we got to have a VIP viewing of the big cat training. It was incredible. Those animals are just magnificent to watch.
