Hotel Sorella; Kansas City’s newest hotel on the Country Club Plaza is now partnering with Spa on Penn to bring spa services to the hotel.

Hotel Sorella is great if you live in Kansas City and want to experience a “staycation”. The location is the best (right off the Country Club Plaza) and they even have an outdoor rooftop pool!

You do not have to be a hotel guest to schedule a spa appointment at Hotel Sorella. This is a great place to spend an afternoon with a spa service, lunch, and then go shop on the plaza.

Francesca’s Restaurant at the hotel serves breakfast until 10:30 each  morning

Their Partner, Spa on Penn has been located in Kansas City’s Westport neighborhood for many years. They have dedicated aestheticians that are experts at what they do.

Now at Hotel Sorella you can enjoy those same services!… Continue Reading

Beauty: Spring Break Prep

Posted on March 3rd, by Melanie

Prepping for a trip is a lot of work! Not only do you have to pack, but sometimes you have to fit in some essential beauty treatments before you leave. I have 3 must-do services before I go away. It seems like a lot, but I always feel so much better when I do it!

I have started to do monthly facials which I feel have helped tremendously with my skin. I go to Nikki at Bare MedSpa  in Park Place. I have very sensitive skin, and have had some bad experiences in the past with products and facials. She is the first aesthetician who really took the time to understand my skin. She has great knowledge of products and what works for different skin types.

To get to understand my skin, she has done a different facial each month, but I recently did the hydra facial before my Los Angeles trip.  … Continue Reading

Style Scout Travels: Kohler, Wiscosin

Posted on August 8th, by Melanie

We traveled to Wisconsin this weekend to celebrate the wedding of our friends, Jerry and Haley. The wedding was set to be at the American Club is located in Kohler, Wisconsin an hour from the Milwaukee airport. Kohler itself is the home of the kitchen and bath company, and also nestled in this small town is the gorgeous American Club Resort. Known for their golf courses and spa, this resort is quite a destination for many people in the midwest and beyond. This hidden gem has been high on my list to visit for many years, so I was excited when we had a reason to go!

The resort is tiny and charming; you feel like you are transported back in time.

The bride and groom stayed at the exclusive “River Bend” portion of the resort. It is members only and it is BEYOND; very “great gatsby”. It is a large mansion with 30 rooms that used to belong to the Kohler Family.… Continue Reading

Shopping Scout: Coverups!

Posted on January 14th, by Melanie

It’s mid January; let’s face it we are all tired of winter already. I can’t be the only one dreaming of a getaway!

If you are lucky enough to be traveling soon, or maybe you are planning your spring break then you are probably already doing a little pre-spring shopping…

I came across a darling selection of cover-ups and swimwear while shopping for a client at Anthropologie. I really feel like nowadays the cover up is as important as the swimsuit; especially if you are traveling to a resort where you are going to and from the pool. They are definitely worth spending a little bit more on to get just the right style and fit that you want.

I would love to add any of these to my swimwear/coverup collection…

Product Love: Mer-Sea & Co Travel Wrap

Posted on November 4th, by Melanie

One of the best birthday presents I received this year is the travel wrap from KC based company, Mer-Sea & Co. You have heard me talk about their amazing home fragrance line. But, they also happen to make these incredible wraps! They come in a handful of wonderful neutral shades, they are machine washable and they easily fold up into a little pillow that you can also use on the airplane!

I can’t tell you how much I love mine…I throw it on over everything; from jeans to leggings. I wore this constantly on our trip to California, because of the cool mornings and evenings. For a brisk morning walk to breakfast, I threw it on over a tee shirt and jeans and it was perfect. It is one of those pieces that you will love and wear forever. I have decided I already  need another color!… Continue Reading
